Yes, we saw those beach photos. We have some questions.

Great art inspires more questions than answers. Great love too, perhaps. I am writing, of course, about this:

Yes, that is Bill Belichick, owner of eight Super Bowl rings and a generally dour demeanor, engaging in a feat of either aerial yoga or a reenactment of The Notebook with his girlfriend of a couple years, Jordon Hudson, on a beach in Jupiter, Florida. Hudson posted this series of photos to her Instagram over the weekend, leading to a new round of publicity for this increasingly public couple, along with new levels of confusion for those of us—most of us, I think—who don’t generally anticipate finding “Bill Belichick” and “aerial yoga” in the same sentence. The general reaction to BillDon (workshopping it) tends to fall somewhere between “huh?” and “WTF,” though there is one element of this relationship that tends to be well understood, which is that she is 24 years old and he is very much not. But there are plenty of other questions about these two that a simple equation to determine their age gap cannot. Let’s discuss:

Hold on, Bill Belichick has a girlfriend?

I don’t think he would be posing for aerial beach yoga pictures as just friends! Belichick and Hudson have been together for at least the last two years. We can deduce this because in late summer of 2023 he was seen in New Orleans with a young brunette who looks like she could be Hudson. This was just before People broke the news via an exclusive tip that Belichick and his longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday, who he’d been with since 2007, had split after the relationship “ran its course.” In March 2024, Belichick was spotted out to dinner in Boston with someone Page Six described as a “mystery brunette.” Still, the burgeoning relationship was under the radar until last May, when Rob Gronkowski made this joke during the Tom Brady roast. Belichick and Hudson started appearing publicly together in December 2024, when they walked a red carpet together and attended a gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

How did they meet?

On February 11, Hudson posted on Instagram about their four-year “meetiversary.” According to TMZ, the two met while seated near each other on a flight from Massachusetts to Florida. Belichick noticed that Hudson, who was in college at the time, was reading a textbook: Deductive Logic, authored by Harvard professor Warren Goldfarb. Talk about a beach read!

They had a conversation, exchanged contact information, and Belichick signed the textbook: “Jordon,” he wrote, “Thanks for giving me a course on logic! Safe travels!” He followed his name with a number for each of the Super Bowls he’s won.

What I’d really like to know is: Was Jordon flying first class? Or was Belichick in coach?!

Does Bill Belichick note his Super Bowl wins after his signature all the time?

I guess? Or maybe only when he’s trying to flirt/flex.

So, who is Jordon?

Jordon is an enigma and I will not pretend that I’m capable of capturing this woman in her totality here. She attended a cosmetology school and Bridgewater State University, where she was a competitive cheerleader and graduated with a philosophy degree in 2022. According to her LinkedIn, she is the CEO and Founder of a business called Trouble Cub Enterprises. It’s not entirely clear what the company does, and its website is password-protected, but they are hiring a Media Assistant! The job description doesn’t really clarify, though it describes TCE as “a holding company based on the East Coast with a diverse portfolio that includes hygiene and beauty products, multimedia production, seafood distribution, and real estate development,” which all sounds fine! But it seems like they mostly want someone to help with incoming media requests and content production.

Hudson is outspoken on social media about the causes she cares about, including secondhand fashion and especially the fishing industry in her home state of Maine.

This is not her first relationship with a significant age gap. Before Belichick, she dated a man named Joshua L. Zuckerman, who was 64 when he spoke to TMZ last June about their relationship. He only had good things to say!

“She is wise beyond her years, much more than any 20-something I’ve ever met in my life,” Zuckerman said.

And according to LinkedIn, Hudson has also been a henna tattoo artist!

Can we go back to the beach pics? What’s happening there?

Sure, but it’s pretty self-explanatory. Hudson and Belichick enjoyed some time together on the beach in Jupiter. The location is noteworthy, since Belichick’s ex, Holliday, is from Jupiter. Belichick bought a house there while dating Holliday, but, according to People, she kept it following the split. Maybe there’s an update on the real estate that we don’t know about, but, either way, it seems like they were heading to the beach during North Carolina’s spring break, which we can deduce from the fact that Hudson used the hashtag #SpringBreak in her caption.

Why is she wearing headphones?

Hmm, could this all be some sort of shadow brand campaign for Beats or something?

Who took these pictures?

This part is unclear to me. The angle of the photos suggests that they could have been taken using the self-timer on a phone propped up in the sand, but there have been other notable beach photos of this couple that have definitely been taken by a third party—like these Halloween pictures in which Hudson is dressed as a mermaid and Belichick is the Gorton’s fisherman.

Is this what the Media Assistant job entails?

Not to be weird but, 👀hamstrings?

Yes, I too noticed that Belichick appears to have pretty solid leg flexion for a septuagenarian!

What’s with the hashtags?

Hudson uses a lot of hashtags. On the beach post from last weekend, she hashtagged #SpringBreak #UsTime #StillGotIt. At the end of a Valentine’s Day post, after a long caption about what constitutes love, she hashtagged #PhilosophyOfLove #WhatIsLove #LoveIsLove #IllWriteABookAboutThisLater. On the meetiversary post, she hashtagged #LoveIsNotLogical #EvenThoughItKindOfIs #Ironic #IPhilToPhil.

I’m not going to pretend to know what’s happening with all that, and Hudson clearly feels that the age gap is not an issue in their relationship, but maybe she’s trying to feel slightly closer to him generationally by posting like your aunt does on Facebook?

What about those engagement rumors?

I’ve been using the term “girlfriend” here, but there’s been plenty of speculation that Belichick and Hudson are planning a wedding—based on the fact that she’s recently been seen wearing a flashy ring on her left ring finger, including in this close-up photo Hudson posted from Super Bowl week.

Still, according to Page Six, the two have “discussed marriage” but are not engaged.

How does she feel about his job at UNC?

Great, it seems! She has become quite involved in Belichick’s career in a relatively short span of time—his duties at UNC very much included. The location of the job listing at her company mentions Bangor, Maine; Boston; and Raleigh, North Carolina; the latter of which is presumably for its proximity to Chapel Hill. Last week, Matt Hartman, a reporter for The Assembly, shared an email from Belichick he’d uncovered through a public records request regarding the UNC athletics budget in which Belichick directed a communications department staffer to copy Hudson on all correspondence with him.

bill belichick asked unc staff to copy his girlfriend on every email they send him

Look, if I worked for the UNC athletic department, I’d be somewhat fussed about my head football coach asking for his 24-year-old girlfriend to be copied on all his emails from staff, but it is true that Belichick has long employed a trusted confidant to handle his media requests and generally manage access to him. For years with the Patriots, that person was Berj Najarian, often described as Belichick’s “right-hand man.” When Belichick left the Patriots, Najarian stayed in Boston and eventually took a job in football administration with Boston College. Though, perhaps in a less official capacity, it does seem like Hudson has stepped into some of that role of managing the things that cross Belichick’s desk—or email box.

Should I feel skeezed out by this whole thing?

I’m not going to say the whole thing doesn’t have a strange whiff to it, but these are two consenting adults routinely telling the world they’re happy together. Also, it’s not like Belichick never posed for cheesy photos in costume in his past relationships. Hudson is definitely being thrust into the public eye very quickly, but she seems to have a sensibility for the basic functions of the attention economy—and is choosing to engage. Wishing them the best in their future endeavors, aerial yoga and otherwise!
