Preseason question: Look, it’s not Bane’s fault, but the Orlando Magic have been an embarrassment from beyond the arc for years at this point. It’s one of the reasons they traded for Bane in the first place. And while Bane made an impressive 39.1 percent of his 3s last year, the volume was insufficient. He tried only 5.2 3s per contest, which ranked 59th in the NBA, according to Basketball Reference. For Orlando to become even a respectable 3-point outfit, that number has to surge closer to eight or nine, and its offense under new coach Sean Sweeney has to be very intentional about engineering looks for Bane. Fair or not, much of the Magic’s offensive potential rests on Bane’s jumper.
