What do you think of where we ranked Jamal Murray?

Analysis

By Danny Chau

One-half of a historically great pick-and-roll duo, proving in his own right to be among the best shotmakers of his generation.

Preseason question: The Nuggets’ vibes are about as cursed as Blucifer, the 32-foot blue mustang statue with demonic glowing eyes that haunts the entrance to the Denver airport. But as long as Nikola Jokic and Murray are on the team, it’s hard to entirely count them out. Especially this version of Murray, fresh off his first All-Star and All-NBA team selections. Is there another gear for Murray to kick into? He has never looked better making plays for others off the dribble, drawing contact in the in-between zones, and attempting and hitting 3s at volume. But a diminished (and oft-injured) supporting cast could require Murray to ramp things up even further. He attempted 7.5 3-pointers per game last season, his highest average ever; can he bump that number up into the 8.5-9.0 range, where initiators like Donovan Mitchell and Tyrese Maxey net out? Given the gaping void that is the Nuggets’ depth, he might just have to.
