KevinDurant

Preseason question: Entering his 20th NBA season, Durant has nothing to prove in the big-picture sense. But if you want to start pulling at threads, you could unravel a web of career-defining questions. For instance, why did the Rockets seem so rudderless last season despite getting 78 games from the 16-time All-Star? Also: Why hasn’t one of the greatest players of his generation made it past the second round in seven years? And why does he keep choosing teams stuck at that ceiling? None of it really matters, because KD has said as much—he seems content with his individual legacy and will argue with you on Threads for 20 minutes if he sees you suggesting otherwise. And so Durant will keep doing his thing—which, for the record, is metronomically consistent elite production—only in a siloed way.
