Preseason question: If a scoring guard averages a ton of points for a bad team, does he make a sound? Herro will have plenty of opportunities as the Bucks transition to their post-Giannis era: He was already the top scorer when surrounded by several of these Miami castaways last season, so he shouldn’t have a hard time taking the reins on offense. The question is how much a healthy, productive season will matter to the league at large. A second All-Star bid in three years would be no small feat, but would it lead Milwaukee to lock up the 2027 unrestricted free agent and native son for the long haul? Would it convince another suitor to plunk down assets for him in a trade? Scoring guards who can’t keep up defensively are getting shortchanged in this second-apron era; this season feels like a crossroads moment for Herro to get ahead of the curve and refine his overall offerings
