Hill is a tall and very athletic linebacker who plays with incredible instincts both against the run and in coverage. A three-year starter for the Longhorns, he absolutely filled up the stat sheet in his career there, racking up 17 sacks, 31.5 tackles for loss, three picks, four pass deflections, and eight forced fumbles in 40 career games. He sees things quickly and triggers decisively against the run. He shoots through gaps and sifts through the line, taking aggressive angles to meet the ballcarrier in the backfield. He shows good range in run defense and strings out rushes to the sideline. He’s a hard-hitting tackler who runs his feet through contact and looks to bury his opponents in the ground. He has a devastatingly effective punch-out move and improved his tackling consistency in 2025, with just three missed tackles all year, per PFF. Hill shows a natural feel for zone coverage, identifying routes to get himself positioned, disrupt throwing lanes, and undercut the receiver. He flies through the line as a blitzer and arrives with thunderous hits. He runs through backs in pass pro to disrupt the play or get to the quarterback.
Hill flashes the ability to stack and shed at the point of attack, but he lacks consistency there, at times struggling to disengage from blocks. He gets swallowed up by offensive linemen and loses his gap responsibilities at times. He is a bit stiff moving backward and can be late to flip his hips and run in trailing coverage. He occasionally gets too grabby downfield. There are times when he comes in too high to tackle and sacrifices his stopping power or misses his target.
