Lawrence is a big, well-built defensive end who brings heat off the edge with top-tier explosive traits and heavy hands. He was a two-year starter for UCF who collected 11 tackles for a loss and seven sacks in 2025, adding two forced fumbles and three passes defensed. His 34.7 percent win rate on true pass rush sets last season (tied for 13th among all edge players with 100-plus pass rush sets) demonstrates his ability to beat blocks and affect the quarterback when given the chance to pin his ears back and rush. Lawrence brings explosive burst off the snap and uses his hands well to defeat blocks and keep himself clean. He brings a solid array of pass rush moves, mixing cross chops, push-pull moves, spin moves, and inside countermoves to keep offensive tackles guessing. He’s tenacious in his bull rush, quickly forcing offensive linemen onto their heels. He corners quickly when he gets the edge and shows good closing speed once he gets a step on the tackle. He strings runs out and shows good lateral agility to stack and shed while tracking outside runs. He has the speed to track running backs and run them out of bounds. He gets his hands up into passing lanes to knock down balls.
Lawrence may be viewed as primarily a pass rush specialist early in his career. He struggles against the run at times and posted a missed tackle rate of 22.4 percent in his college career. There are times when he’s washed out of the play by bigger blockers. He struggles to hold up against double-teams. He occasionally loses sight of the ballcarrier and lets them through his gap.
