Klare is a dynamic “move” tight end who lines up all across the formation, creates mismatches, and brings the speed and agility to pick up yards after the catch. A transfer to Ohio State in 2025 after spending two seasons at Purdue, he has a scintillating combination of speed and body control as a pass-catcher. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage and utilizes his frame to shield the defender away at the catch point, flashing the ability to jump up and snag an off-target pass, come down, and change direction to pick up yards after the catch. He’s flexible and has a big catch radius, routinely going high to grab off-target throws or reach down to scoop passes at his feet; he notched just two drops in 2025 and tallied an impressive 5.7 percent drop rate over his career. He shows awareness for the sideline to get his feet down inbounds while securing the pass. Klare shows a good feel versus zone coverage, settling into the open spot to give his quarterback an underneath option, and he keeps working to get open on the scramble drill. When he gets the chance to turn on the jets on deep crossing routes or vertical seam routes, he leaves second-level defenders in the dust. He was utilized frequently as a blocker on movement blocks, slice blocks, and screens, and proved that he can get the job done at the point of attack, walling off a defender.
Klare is a bit slim-framed and may need to put on some bulk at the next level. He lacks elite twitch in the short area and can take extra steps in his transition from catch to run. He is more of a receiving tight end than a true in-line player right now. He ducks his head and drops his eyes into contact. He loses his balance and is too easily moved off his spot. An ankle injury limited his 2023 season to five games.
