Fano possesses a rare blend of athleticism and competitiveness, giving him the potential to be an impact starter early in his NFL career. Sporting a tall, high-cut, and broad-shouldered frame and quick feet to mirror, recover, and drive opponents off the line, he’s a battle-tested brawler who logged over 2,200 snaps in his college career (with starting reps at both right and left tackle). The winner of the Outland Trophy in 2025 and a unanimous All-American, he is a quick-footed tackle who pass-blocks with good balance and savvy hand-fighting skills. Fano keeps his feet moving and hands working to maintain position, and he shows understanding of how to use his long arms to control opposing pass rushers. He has a strong grip to lock in and keep opponents in his grasp. He brings lateral recovery ability to get himself back into position even when he loses a step. In the run game, Fano churns his feet to create push and get defenders out of the play. He’s great on movement blocks and pulls, where his skills and coordination shine. He flashes quick feet to pivot and seal on playside runs and can smoothly climb to the second level to seal off blocks and pave the way for running backs. He plays with a feisty attitude; he regularly looks to put opponents on the ground in the open field.
There are times that Fano’s height can be a disadvantage for him; he will resort to leaning on defenders, and occasionally will get out over his skis and allow defensive linemen to swim past him. He can be overwhelmed by speed off the edge and be forced to hold. He can overcorrect to some pass rushers and set too wide, allowing inside penetration and counter moves. He lacks sand in his pants to anchor against the bull rush. He may need to get stronger at the next level.
