The Player
Lauck’s quickness, active feet, and frame make him an effective zone blocker. He can reach and cover linebackers at the second level, block until the whistle, and wash defenders down the line. He also works effectively on combo blocks and double-teams, driving defensive linemen into the laps of linebackers.
He needs to get stronger and improve his ability to sustain one-on-one. His base can narrow, causing him to fall off blocks late, and his footwork and angles are inconsistent. He can also be late releasing to linebackers on combo blocks.
Lauck is quick and rarely takes false steps in pass protection. He changes directions well, plays with good body control, and mirrors effectively. He mixes it up as a hand fighter and flashes a strong punch. Lauck does a good job of showing his hands, dropping them, and quickly working them back inside, making it difficult for edge rushers to knock his hands down as they work upfield.
He tends to dig in and recover, but he can give up too much ground to power rushers. When his footwork breaks down and he gets caught out of position, he can panic and grab defenders.
A redshirt junior, Lauck played four games in 2024 before starting all 13 at left tackle in 2025. He earned third-team All–Big Ten honors from the coaches and an All–Big Ten honorable mention from the media as part of the offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award. He was also one of six juniors named to Iowa’s 2026 Leadership Council.
