The Takeaway
The Player
Terrell is the younger brother of Falcons corner (and former first-rounder) AJ Terrell, and like his brother, he is a fluid cover defender who reads receivers well and gets his eyes on the quarterback in off coverage. The younger Terrell triggers quickly and can beat blockers to the spot when breaking on quick throws. He’s smooth turning and running, which makes it difficult for receivers to stack him on vertical routes. When aligned over the slot and in phase, he takes sound angles undercutting in-breaking routes. Terrell also plays aggressively, which can lead to pass breakups or interceptions but occasionally leaves him out of position. At times he can be manipulated by the quarterback’s eyes and will guard grass in underneath zone coverage.
He primarily aligned at outside corner at Clemson, although he logged a career-high 112 snaps in the slot in 2025. Terrell’s a tough competitor against longer receivers on the outside, although he is undersized (5-foot-11, 186 pounds), with short arms (31 inches). Bigger targets can create separation at the top of routes, and he can have difficulty competing for jump balls.
His ball production has been modest, with three interceptions in 39 career games and none in 2025, but he flashes promise as a pass rusher when blitzing off the edge (three sacks in 2025). He shows good stopping power for his size and generally limits yards after the catch. He’s an active run defender who can slip blocks, although he also gets stuck on them at times and isn’t always a consistent tackler.
Terrell has a knack for forcing fumbles and frequently rips at the ball. He set Clemson records for a defensive back, with five forced fumbles in a season (2025) and eight in his career.
The Draft
Terrell is in the mix to be the third corner off the board, but he could be the sixth corner taken considering that he’s one of four with early second-round grades in this class.
The Projection
Texans 2024 second-round pick Kamari Lassiter has overcome shorter arms (30 7/8 inches) and average size (5 feet, 11 1/2 inches and 186 pounds) to develop into one of the best corners in the league. Like Lassiter, Terrell is instinctive and aggressive enough to develop into a starter on the outside, but he may ultimately be a better fit on the inside, at least early in his career.
