The Takeaway
The Player
Brazzell is a big-time vertical-threat Z receiver—43 percent of his career receiving yards have come on targets 20-plus yards downfield. His combination of length and top-end speed (confirmed by a 4.37-second 40 time) is rare. He’s a long strider who builds speed as he goes, and while he’s not the twitchiest, he is a very refined route runner and shows an excellent feel for uncovering against zone. His ball skills showed significant improvement in 2025 (10 drops in 2023-24 compared with just two drops on 99 targets in 2025). However, for a big-bodied receiver, he’s not strong at the catch point, and he has struggled on contested catch opportunities (catching only 38.9 percent of contested catches in 2025). He’s also not overly dynamic after the catch.
While he’s known for his vertical route running, Brazzell finished his career with a 78 percent open-target rate, which speaks to his craftiness as a route runner. He’s highly effective at tempoing his routes, he has natural instincts for locating holes in zone coverage, and he’s smooth in and out of his breaks, which allows him to generate separation against man coverage.
Brazell had much more reliable hands in 2025. He was credited with two drops, and there are several instances on tape when he secured the ball while taking big hits. He tracks the ball well and can be difficult to track down once he has a head of steam. However, he doesn’t have much wiggle and is not a make-you-miss guy in the screen game or quick game. He’s also not a very effective blocker in the screen and run games. He tries to get in the way but does not show a commitment to it.
The Draft
The 2026 receiver group is loaded, but Brazell’s vertical ability, savvy route running (especially against zone), and red zone playmaking should land him in Round 2.
The Projection
Brazzell projects as an immediate deep-threat impact Z flanker in the NFL. He needs to improve his ball skills and become stronger and more physical at the catch point. He can develop into a role similar to Christian Watson’s with the Packers.
