The Takeaway
The Player
Bowry is an inconsistent but versatile offensive tackle with the length, explosiveness, and athleticism to develop into a starter. His lower-body explosiveness is evident from his broad jump at the combine, which was tied for third best among offensive linemen. He fires off the ball, getting a strong initial push in the run game and punching defensive tackles onto guards as a combination blocker. His quickness makes him a good fit for zone-heavy schemes. He can reach front-side defenders and scoop backside defenders and moves well working up to the second level. He runs well, can get out into space, and blocks to the whistle.
Bowry has an edge to his game but lacks the raw power of a true mauler. He has a tendency to play on his toes, let his pads rise, and narrow his base, which causes him to stall out and fall off his blocks. He gets grabby when he starts to lose and can be slow to locate assignments and react to late movement. He has the tools to develop as a pass blocker: His arms measured 34 1/8 inches at the Senior Bowl, and he explodes out of his stance while kicking out. He uses his big hands to latch on to opposing defenders and lock out, and he’s strong enough to anchor when he keeps defenders off his frame.
His footwork is inconsistent. His feet get too close together when he opens his body to push speed rushers past the quarterback. He needs to improve the timing and accuracy of his punches. He mirrors well at times, but he needs to do a better job of using his inside hand to snatch defenders when they start to cross his face. A team captain, he started two games at right tackle in 2022, redshirted in 2023, and started 21 games at left tackle over the past two seasons. He missed three games due to an injury in 2025.
The Draft
Bowry grades out as a mid-round offensive tackle and a potential top-150 prospect. Boston College has had six players drafted in the past three years, three of whom were offensive linemen.
The Projection
Bowry is a strong candidate to start his career as a no. 3 swing tackle and potentially develop into a starter. A good comp for Bowry is Warren McClendon Jr., a 2023 fifth-round pick who started in five of the 19 games he appeared in in his first two seasons in the league. He started 10 games in 2025 and is expected to start at right tackle for the Rams next year.
