The Takeaway

The Player

Allen is a highly dependable back capable of taking on a lot of volume, and his game is built on vision, efficiency, and physical consistency rather than on dynamic athletic traits. As Penn State’s all-time leading rusher, he proved that he can handle a sustained workload and can be trusted in all situations, particularly in structured downhill run games.

Allen’s instincts and decisiveness help him excel as a runner. He consistently maximizes what’s blocked, showing patience in pressing the line and the awareness to find and exploit creases. His contact balance is a key strength—he runs through arm tackles, falls forward, and generates steady yards after contact. While not overly flashy, he has enough foot quickness in tight spaces to navigate traffic and keep runs on schedule.

Athletically, Allen is limited. He lacks top-end speed and explosive burst, which caps his ability to create chunk plays or threaten defenses on the perimeter. He’s more of a grinder than a home-run hitter, relying on consistency over big-play ability.

In the passing game, Allen is functional but not a major weapon. His receiving production is modest, and he doesn’t project as a high-volume target. However, his pass protection is a clear plus—he’s reliable, technically sound, and trusted to handle blitz pickup, which boosts his third-down viability.

Ball security is another strength; he has a low fumble rate across a very high number of touches, underlining his dependability.

The Draft

He’s one of the top five RBs in this class and should be drafted somewhere in the third or fourth round.

The Projection

Allen projects as a reliable RB2 who can handle early-down and pass-protection duties in a committee. His vision, toughness, and consistency give him a high floor, but his lack of explosive traits limits his ceiling as a feature back. He’s a David Montgomery type who can be a complementary power back in short-yardage, goal-line, and clock-control situations.
