The Takeaway
The Player
Bell is a highly productive, explosive receiver whose game is built on suddenness, separation quickness, and run-after-the-catch ability. After a breakout 2025 season at UConn, backed by elite combine testing, he profiles as a dynamic underneath/intermediate weapon who can consistently create and maximize touches.
As a route runner, Bell’s defining trait is his ability to drop his weight and change direction quickly. He shows real burst in and out of breaks, making him an effective separator in the short to intermediate areas. While much of his college production came from schemed touches (screens, motion, rub concepts), he has the tools to win on true NFL routes, although he still needs refinement in route leverage and pacing.
Bell is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He accelerates quickly upfield and can make the first defender miss using his body control and sharp cuts. His play style is more linear than elusive—he’s not overly shifty in space—but he generates chunk plays through burst and decisiveness. His role will likely lean heavily on YAC opportunities rather than vertical shot plays.
Despite strong timed speed, he’s unlikely to be a consistent deep threat at his size. Instead, his value comes as a chain mover and space player who can stress defenses horizontally and turn short gains into efficient offense.
His ball skills have improved but remain a mild concern. He reduced his drops significantly in 2025 and showed improved reliability, although occasional double catches still appear on tape. Encouragingly, he competes well at the catch point, posting a strong contested-catch rate for his size.
Bell also adds value with his effort and physicality as a blocker. He plays with good technique, gets into position, and competes hard despite his size limitations.
The Draft
Bell’s intriguing because he has explosive traits and is coming off the most productive season of any WR prospect in this class. However, there are enough warning signs on tape—fighting the ball, trouble versus press, a lack of make-you-miss elusiveness in space for a YAC specialist—to put a cap on his value. He should come off the board early on day three.
The Projection
Bell projects as a starting-caliber slot/Z receiver in a timing-based offense. His separation quickness, YAC ability, and production give him a strong floor, while continued refinement of his route running and ball skills will determine whether he can become a high-volume NFL target. Some have comped him to Christian Kirk (49ers), but that’s too high end. A more realistic but still higher-end comp is Isaiah Bond (Browns).
