The Takeaway

The Player

Kacmarek is a throwback in-line tight end whose value is anchored in his physicality, blocking dominance, and reliability in a complementary receiving role. His career arc—from being a more involved pass catcher at Ohio to a role-specific contributor at Ohio State—reflects a skill set best suited to doing the dirty work while offering situational value as a target.

As a blocker, he’s among the best in the class. Kacmarek has excellent power, leverage, and a wide, sturdy base, consistently generating movement at the point of attack. He plays with a high level of physicality and urgency, actively seeking contact and finishing reps. His ability to climb to the second level and execute combo blocks adds to his value in the run game, while his strength and anchor translate well to pass protection. He is a true in-line presence who can be trusted in all situations.

In the passing game, Kacmarek is dependable but limited. He offers strong, secure hands and serves as a reliable option in the short to intermediate areas. His efficiency—highlighted by a high completion rate when targeted—speaks to his ability to be where he’s supposed to be and finish plays. However, he was rarely featured and had minimal opportunities in contested situations, leaving some questions about his ceiling as a receiver.

Athletically, he’s functional but not dynamic. His speed and burst are below average for the position, and he lacks the acceleration or twitch to threaten vertically or generate significant yards after the catch. While he’s more capable as a receiver than his usage might suggest, he’s unlikely to be a playmaker at the next level.

The Draft

Y tight end blocking specialists at Kacmarek’s level typically come off the board early on day three. Round 4 is where we should hear his name called on draft weekend.

The Projection

Kacmarek is a true Y tight end with excellent blocking skills—arguably the best in his class. He compares favorably to Josh Oliver (Vikings), who has graded out as one of the best blocking tight ends in the NFL and has averaged 20 catches per year for the Vikings over the past three seasons.
