Rutledge is a battle-tested and scheme-versatile guard prospect who blocks with plenty of power and quick feet. A highly experienced four-year starter who transferred to Georgia Tech in 2024 after two seasons at Middle Tennessee, he took nearly all of his college snaps at right guard. Rutledge packs a powerful punch, deploying thudding blows on initial contact to knock back opposing linemen and set them on their heels. He does a good job of staying square and balanced to maintain his leverage, and he can reset after initially getting pushed back. He gathers his feet and reestablishes his anchor, showing the upper-body flexibility to absorb his opponent’s attack without giving up too much ground. He allowed zero sacks in 440 pass blocking opportunities in 2025, per PFF, with just two sacks surrendered in 2,805 snaps over his career. In the run game, Rutledge gets underneath opponents’ pads and forklifts them off their spots, churning his feet to push them off the line. He shows good quickness in space and on pulling blocks, engulfs second-level defenders, and looks to deliver punishment to everyone in his path. He shows particular glee when he gets to block defensive backs in space.
Rutledge leans into and falls off blocks, and his aggressiveness can occasionally be used against him; he’ll come in too hot and lunge past his block. His lack of balance at times lands him out of position or gives defenders a chance to knock him back into the pocket. He can be a beat slow to recognize and pick up stunts. He’s a bit frenetic when moving downfield to block at the second level and will whiff on his targets in space.
