Hurst is a tall, long-levered wideout who lacks experience against top-level competition but has the scintillating traits to develop into a big-time playmaker on the outside. A transfer to Georgia State in 2024 after spending two seasons at Valdosta State, he racked up 127 catches for 1,965 yards and 15 scores over the past two years for the Panthers. He’s quick-footed and agile, showing the ability to beat press and get into his route. He stacks corners in a blink and breaks free over the top, tracking the ball naturally to adjust to off-target throws. He accelerates away from defenders as the ball arrives and can really open up his stride and access an extra gear. He’s surprisingly sudden as a route runner, showing more wiggle and agility than you’d think a guy of his height would bring. He can drop his weight and change directions sharply on out routes and comebacks. He has a massive catch radius, elevating to pluck the ball at its highest point or going low to reel in balls at his shins. He has experience running routes both from the perimeter and in the slot.
Hurst has a high-cut, leggy frame and lacks nuance as a route runner. He doesn’t always sell his route effectively. He gets knocked off his spot or slowed up at the route break. He’ll need to expand his route tree at the next level. He had some ugly drops to contrast the impressive catches in college. He doesn’t always see the ball into his hands and occasionally fights the ball. He played against a lower level of competition at Georgia State.
